The Future of Education: Student-Centred Classroom is a summer course of the university program, which aims to critically analyze the innovative learning environment by using the criteria of the best practices and research. ILET & Schooling Group members will share findings and experiences about the creation and facilitation of such a learning environment. We show different effective didactical solutions from Finland, Scotland, Canada, and Belgium.
The course is designed for advanced BA students and MA/Ph.D. students or teachers training students, primary and secondary teachers.
Ingvar Stål is an Academic Leader and CEO for ILET & Schooling Group, Belgium and Associate Academic for ILETS Group at the University of Glasgow. His interest is the development of pedagogy of the student-centered classroom, interdisciplinary curriculum design and teacher’s transformation from teachers-centered facilitation to student-centered.
Vic Lally is a professor at the School of Education, University of Glasgow, Scotland. His interest is interdisciplinary pedagogy and the implementation of modern technology in the learning process.
Jeanette Lindroos is a lecturer in Maths and Natural Sciences at Kyrkbackens School in Nagu, Finland. Her interest is in the implementation of coding and robotics in education. Jeanette has successfully implemented programming in her classes.
Jan Holmgård is a teacher in Maths and Science, an educator at School Resources, Åbo Academy, Finland. His interest is the implementation of interdisciplinary curriculum in Maths and Science. Jan is implementing astronomy and open-laboration for students.
Ebenezer Odetola is an Art teacher and educator, CEO of CME Foundation, Nigeria. His interest is the implementation of Arts in interdisciplinary student-centered classroom.
Modules and Workshops:
Module A: Educational Approaches behind the Student-Centred Classroom
This module includes Social Cognitive, Information-Processing, Cognitive Constructivist and Social Constructivist Approaches to learning.
Workshop discussion and sharing the findings and experiences with researchers.
Module B: Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching
This module includes an explanation of the interdisciplinary as an approach to education, interdisciplinary curriculum design.
Workshop discussion and practice on the planning of interdisciplinary learning topics.
Module C: The Art of Teaching Student-Centred Classroom
This module includes different practical solutions such as hands-on activities about creating of interdisciplinary topics, coding and robotics, astronomy praxis, and “open-laboratory works”.
ILET & Schooling Group Summer School includes also different sightseeing possibilities in Toscana region, you will explore the traditional food and vineyards. Furthermore, hotel facilities invite you to the relaxing zone with the pool.
